My friend and I stopped in today while on a trek to view the beautiful Texas Bluebonnet, Indian Paintbrush, and Mexican Blanket flowers that are blooming all across the countryside. We went in and were greeted by Millie, who provided us with a wonderful background on the items in the museum. She then waled us next door to the Lehman and Goertz log cabins where we viewed the furnishings from days long past. Millie was very knowledgeable of historical events and I thoroughly enjoyed the "tour" she gave us. Her anecdotes of not only town history but her personal memories gave us a top notch experience.
Great little museum. Meet a Docent who was a complete delight. She was most informative, friendly, and knowledgeable. Old buildings on site with connection to town. We enjoyed the place and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys history, small towns and Texas frontier buildings. Please go and support these places as they are true treasures of the past.
Thank you, Millie, for being such a gracious guide in our walk down Rockne's memory lane!
This is a small, but very interesting museum that has extensive historical information and exhibits which pertain to the local peoples who settled in the area and their experiences in the Civil and World Wars, as well as life, in general, in the area. I would highly recommend a visit.
